MAP STORY

This sea monster map is a print of a re-engraving of Ortelius's famous Icelandic monster map believed to have been made by Jean Boisseau. Get the map alone or ready to hang with our beautiful floating framed canvas.

This smaller map shows Iceland and its seas with all the monsters you can muster. Included in the map are mountains, glaciers, fjords, and a lovely illustration of Mount Hekla erupting. Other creatures more easily identifiable on the coastlines are Polar Bears playing among icebergs.

This re-engraving lists over 200 place names, some of which were clearly misread from Ortelius' map and are incorrect, but these mistakes are what make old maps so interesting.

The paper is thick, be careful not to fold a corner while unboxing the map, which I did. Thankfully it' now hidden by the frame! The artwork is brilliant, all about natural aspects of the islands.
